Peregrine add-in is mainly used to identify frame topologies with an excellent efficiency rate (minimum volume, for example) for any given boundary conditions, supports, sets of loads and material properties. Peregrine uses a powerful optimisation engine from another Limitstate product – FORM. It provides a possibility to create buildings and different large structures designs. Solutions are counted within seconds and transformed into more efficient and more practical methods.
Peregrine is a trusted software because it has been developed as part of the UK government-funded research project. This collaborative research project involved the Universities of Sheffield, Bath and Edinburgh were involved. Also, engineering companies like AECOM, Arup, BuroHappold, Expedition Engineering, IStructE, Ramboll and the Steel Construction Institute.
